Russian Amazonite Necklace
This one of a kind necklace is made from intense green, cylindrical Russian amazonites, an old Beduin silver knob bead, a Tuareg ebony bead inlayed with a silverwire band, an old Roman glass bead found in Afghanistan, and tribal beads from India.
Named after the Amazon River, this deep green stone has become a favorite gemstone in recent years. Its unique color, a result of traces of lead, and wordwide low supplies, make Russian amazonite a sought after stone in contemporary precious jewelry design.
Found in archeological sites of ancient Egypt, Turkey, Iran and Iraq, amazonite has been used as a gem stone for over 2000 years. Its colors can range from a milky light to deep green, however the intense green variety is prized for its gem stone quality.
